The Leprechaun
The Leprechaun horror film series' sleeper is Leprechaun 4: In Space. Yes, it is set in space, but that is precisely what makes it so mind-numbingly fantastic. Leprechaun 4 is an excellent illustration of how to convert a completely ludicrous idea into something really "unique." The film is jam-packed with realistic effects, innovative killings, and hilarious Leprechaun lines that will have you rolling on the floor. Leprechaun 4: In Space is a must-see for fans of the Leprechaun franchise or horror films in general.
Pinhead
The series' interesting continuation, Hellraiser: Bloodline, also acts as a prequel. The 1700s, the 1990s, and the 2200s are the three eras that the tale takes place in. Let's face it: I'm really just here for Pinhead and the other Cenobites, so I didn't have very high hopes for the fourth episode of the series. Doug Bradley retains that chilly, menacing, and demonic vibe, making it a delight to see him play. Who cares if this is tough to understand and makes no sense? Bloodline is worth seeing even if you've watched Hellraiser in its entirety because of the gruesome Pinhead moments. Definitely give this one a look if you like Hellraiser or any of Clive Barker's previous books. Even if there isn't a lot of logic to it, the trip is quite enjoyable.
Critters
The idea of Critters 4 taking place in outer space piqued my interest. I mean, how could they possible beat the previous Critters movies? But then I saw the cast list and it simply didn't seem promising. Brad Dourif? Is that Angela Bassett? Anders Hove, the well-known Danish actor? This was never going to work for me.
And when I eventually saw Critters 4, my worries were validated. It was merely a rip-off of other properties with a horrible setting and a bad tale with awful characters. The exact elements that made the prior entries special and enjoyable are either entirely stripped out or just absent, which is what truly stings from the fan's standpoint. Dracula
Dracula 3000 is one of the few awful horror films that are so horrible horror sequels in space that they are almost unwatchable. I like hating Dracula 3000. Even though it's terrible for the whole of its runtime, the finale was a horrible cop-out that left me completely unhappy. Instead of being so awful it's good, "Dracula in Space" was so bad it's dreadful. The notion is entertaining, but the acting is poor and the conversation is intolerable. I suggest seeing it if you want to feel unhappy for the remainder of the day.
Also, Coolio. Coolio is one of the stars. Have I already mentioned that?
Jason Voorhees
Jason X is the most renowned horror movie sequel in space. Jason Voorhees is legendary. It's irrelevant how he got into space. Nobody cares why he's in space. Jason's presence in space is all that counts.
In my view, Jason X is worth seeing for easter eggs and nods to past Friday the 13th movies, as well as his metamorphosis into Uber Jason.
While this movie isn't everyone's bag, it's a great watch for horror movie fans that love campy, cheesy, slasher films.
